Relapse Disease
The subjects of relapse and disease are interesting ones when it comes to drug or alcohol
addiction treatment.
Relapse is not a result of an incurable disease; in fact,
addiction is not an incurable disease at all as many would have you believe.
Addiction is a condition which is brought about as the result of
abuse drugs and alcohol.
There are mental, emotional, and physical factors that all contribute to bringing about the condition. Relapse is a result of one or more unhandled factors in the
addiction recovery process. The main categories of unhandled items causing relapse are Cravings (mental, emotional, and physical), unhandled guilt, and unhandled depression resulting from addiction.
Once these points are fully handled so is the problem of relapse.
Drug Rehab Information By State
The chemical cocaine hydrochloride is commonly known as cocaine. Some users chemically process cocaine in order to remove the hydrochloride. This process is called ‘freebasing’ and makes the drug more potent. ‘Crack’ is a solid form of freebased cocaine. It is called ‘crack’ because it snaps and cracks when heated and smoked.
Traditionally, cocaine was a rich man's drug, due to the large expense of a cocaine habit. Now, crack is being sold at prices low enough that even adolescents can afford to buy it. But, this is misleading, since once a person has a crack cocaine addiction, his ‘habit’ often increases, and so does his expense.
Narconon Arrowhead is an adult drug rehab, meaning the minimum age for enrollment in our program is 18 years old.
Other than that age limitation, individuals come from varied backgrounds and experiences.
We range in age from 18 to 80; individuals hail from all around the world, and run the entire gamut of educational, financial, and career backgrounds.
We find the melting pot to be extremely advantageous in handling the
addiction problem.
Addicts and
alcoholic are generally very selfish and self centered at the height of their addictions. As the new person moves through our program they find addicts helping addicts, which is a very strong force, as nobody knows the condition better than someone who has been there. Gaining the ability and desire to help another is a key point in extroverting the addict once again in preparing them to re-enter home or society.
Addiction is a condition characterized by repeated, compulsive seeking and use of drugs, alcohol, or other substances despite social, mental, and physical consequences.
It is usually accompanied by psychological and physical dependence on the abused substance and the appearance of withdrawal symptoms when the addictive substance is rapidly decreased or terminated.
When
addiction exists, the
drug use controls the individual rather than the individual controlling the usage.
Many of today’s
illegal drugs are extremely addictive as well a many
prescription drugs – particularly ones for depression and sleep problems, as well as painkillers.
Drug side effects are becoming more and more of an issue for
addiction professionals.
This is especially true in light of the epidemic rise in the
abuse of and
addiction to prescription painkillers, anti-depressants, and anti-psychotics. These often have life threatening side effects when taken as prescribed, let alone at abusive or addictive levels. More and more individuals seeking drug
treatment for addiction to some sort of street drug are also reporting abusive and addictive use of
prescription drugs at the same time.
This is an explosive and potentially deadly combination.
In this culture, at this time, one should always suspect more substances are being used than what is being reported.
