I’ve just completed the Narconon Arrowhead Drug Rehab Program. When I first got here to the drug rehab, I didn’t think I’d ever say those words. I’m so happy and feel such a great sense of achievement. I’ve worked so hard and come a long way. There have been so many amazing changes in me that everyone I know would hardly recognize me. Well, Narconon is a long term, drug free, non-traditional drug
abuse treatment center.
What this means is that Narconon for one does not believe in the use of drugs in the treatment of drug or alcohol abuse.
Rather we address the factors leading up to and then continuing alcohol and drug abuse.
Substituting one drug for another just makes no sense! We are long term in that the program is designed for results not amount of time spent in rehab. Our average stay is generally 90 – 120 days depending on individual needs. Our students go at their own pace to insure the full abilities needed are gained. We are also non-traditional meaning the normal 12 step methodologies common to shorter programs and not used by rather an approach of gaining and using new abilities to produce a happy and drug free, productive life.
Rehabilitate means to return to a previous condition or an improvement of even that.
An
addiction rehab that is truly effective will bypass restoring the individual to a previous condition and go straight for an improvement of even that.
The reasoning is relatively simple.
The previous condition obviously contributed to and led up to the drug
abuse and
addiction to begin with.
If one is trying to insure a drug free productive condition that will last a lifetime than one better locate, address, and fully resolve those past factors that contributed to and let up to the addiction initially and then kept it going.

At Narconon Arrowhead we do no refer to our participants as ‘patients’ but rather they are considered ‘students’. Using the word ‘patient’ tends to give an erroneous impression of illness and disease, which is not the main thrust of our program.
Certainly issues of health and nutrition need to corrected, especially in the withdrawal and
detoxification phases of the program. The term student is used as we are educating the individual into the use of the tools and abilities needed to sustain a continuous drug free productive life and to confront and resolve the three main factors behind relapse and continued use.
